Post Session Protocol
On the day of your visit move carefully. Especially if your back or hips are an issue, get up from the sitting position every 30 minutes or so and walk around for 15 - 20 steps. It gives the body something to work with. Do not engage in physical workouts on the day of a session.
In the next 5 days walk as much as possible, it integrates the new patterns in your body. When rising up from sitting, put your weight evenly on both feet. Cross your legs at the ankles, not at the knees when sitting. Squat instead of bending at the waist. If you have a regular workout routine continue it at its current level or preferably less for the next 5 days. Even though you may feel good DO NOT OVERDO IT. Wait until the day after your visit to begin doing the enhancing movements if any are given to you.
Drink as much water as is comfortably possible, when it stops tasting good you have had enough. Distilled water for a few days is great.
Your body is now on a mission of recovery and reorganization.
There are some things that will reduce or negate that process.
No heat or ice on the effected area for two or more days after a session. Take luke warm baths or showers and No hot tubs. Use a cloth saturated with apple cider vinegar covered with glad wrap on sore areas if needed. Try to reduce or avoid stimulating drinks with caffeine and remove custom orthotics in shoes if possible.
No manipulatory forms of therapy such as massage, chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, kinesiology or any magnetic devices for a minimum of 4 days before and 5 days after a Bowen session.
Follow your doctor’s orders for all prescription drugs.
